But a charge of having sex with a 14-year-old girl was withdrawn. Alan Mark Scadden admitted the kidnapping charge and the matter has now been transferred to the Manukau District Court in Auckland for sentencing. Scadden, an Auckland driver, had developed a relationship over the Internet with the girl, police prosecutor Stu Koefoed said. He said the relationship had developed over time, and included phone conversations and text messaging. Mr Koefoed said that the girl claimed she was being abused by her mother and her mothers partner and asked Scadden to take her away with him. Scadden booked a return flight to the girl's hometown from Auckland, booking the girl a one-way ticket. On September 7 Scadden the pair spent the night together. On the afternoon of September 8 they attempted to catch a flight to Auckland. Both were spoken to by police shortly after checking in. Scadden told police he was sick of hearing about the abuse (the girl) was receiving so he was taking her to Auckland. He said he was aware the girl was only 14. Judge Pat Grace remanded Scadden on bail till November 12 for a probation report to be completed before sentencing.
